Finding that Spark 💫

“Can you remember who you were before the world told you to be?

This quote came from someone, clearly awesome, but I didn’t write down the author at the time… but there you have it!

I have been receiving guidance in dreams lately, showing me my self-limiting beliefs and how they had kept me stuck. Over the last month or so, I have realized that for decades now, I have used the gym as an escape. Not such a bad habit or escape, you might say. I agree with that, however, it became like a drug to me. When I was happy, I wanted to be working out. When I was frustrated or angry inside, I wanted to be working out. It got to the point where if I wasn’t getting to the gym 2-3 times per day, I was unhappy about it. I was basically a prisoner to it.  Not a peaceful way to exist, that’s for sure!

Side-note tangent here: I will say that adopting or continuing a daily exercise routine does feel important. This is NOT an excuse to stop working out and being a beast.  It feels great to move my body the way it was designed to move. But if something is being done in excess… whether it’s working out, watching tv, drinking, drugs, food, shopping, gambling, sex… whatever it is that we seek outside ourselves when we think we need comfort… as long as we search outside ourselves, it will not solve the problem.  That’s just a temporary band-aid. And we will not get the answers we are seeking. (No worries, it only took me 3 1/2 decades and multiple injuries to figure this out! Ha!) So once I woke up to this, I decided to make some changes.

I started paying attention to habits and things that I turned to when I felt I was missing something. For me this just so happened to be working out (obsessively) as well as seeking love outside of myself. Apparently I am very focused on the body. We all have our thing, but we also know we can’t take these bodies with us when we leave this Earth. Nothing physical is permanent. So the goal here is to not rely on external things, the body, or other people, as the source for our own happiness and fulfillment. We already know this, but knowing about something and actually living it- what a challenge!

By waking up to who we really are on the inside, this changes the way we act in relationships and towards ourselves, on a daily basis, in everything we do. In due course, this changes the results we get. We literally manifest those things closest to our hearts desires.

With this post, I wanted to focus on some practical things that I have personally done and continue to turn to for my own internal peace and joy. Maybe some of these ideas will help you as well to continue to raise your vibration. Here they are!

1: Meditation, prayer, sitting quietly with eyes closed looking inward, asking for guidance- sometimes I will find a guided meditation on YouTube, good stuff out there!

*Here’s a channel that has quick 10 min easy meditations: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN4vyryy6O4GlIXcXTIuZQQ

*Here is an example of a video that I like to fall asleep to. Headphones help as some videos have binaural beats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVwldhcHf6U

2: Reading or watching a video- something uplifting, such as scripture, or anything that speaks truth to you (for me it’s A Course in Miracles and the daily video lessons) -link in first post

3: Writing/journaling – getting what’s in your mind out on paper so that you can see what’s there. Sounds simple, but it’s very powerful. You don’t have to show it to anyone, but this practice has been very helpful to me personally.

4: Listening to music – something that uplifts you (you know it’s uplifting if you actually Feel good listening to it) I created a personal list for myself and I hit shuffle and let it flow. Always gets me in a high vibration!

5: Do what brings you Joy. Literally in joy (enjoy). This can be a tricky one sometimes because as a society we are programmed out of this. A good hint though: what did you love doing as a kid, or dream about? **

6: Spending time outside in nature. We literally need the sun and it’s energy for survival. Most of us spend so much time indoors due to work, etc.. that we don’t get out much. Enjoy that creation! Play in some water, lake, ocean, plant a garden, etc..

7: Find a way to move your body… walking, running, swimming, yoga… or gym time 😊 just make sure it’s bringing you joy and you feel good about it… clears throat loudly 😉

8: Spend quality time with loved ones, friends, family, pets etc… be present while you’re with them. Appreciate them. Love them unconditionally. As one of my favorite women on this planet says… “говорите о смысле жизни” (talk about the meaning of life).

** I may talk more about #5 (finding your Joy) in my next post. I’m just going with the flow, so we’ll see! Have a great day and thank you for reading! Until next time…

Be that Light – Be that Love,

Stephanie
